Best 11 Romantic Valentine’s Day Hairstyles

Are you getting ready for Valentine’s Day? Whether you’re going on a romantic date or hanging out with your friends for Galentine’s Day, you’re probably thinking about dressing up and looking nice on February 14th. You might have your makeup and outfit planned, but what about your hair?

Raven Hurtado, a hairstylist at Maxine Salon in Chicago, says Valentine’s Day hairstyles are special because you can choose soft and romantic styles for a sweet date night or get creative with fun hairstyles for Galentine’s Day.

Here, we’ve asked experts for their top 12 picks of romantic Valentine’s Day hairstyles that you can easily do at home.

Margot Robbie looks amazing as always, especially with this beautiful tousled bun hairstyle at the “Barbie” European premiere. Hurtado thinks it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day because it’s romantic and gentle.

“To get this style, curl your hair loosely with a Trademark Beauty Curling Iron (available on amazon.com) with a 1 1/4 inch barrel,” she suggests.

“Then, add Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray (available on amazon.com) for volume and texture.” Put all your hair into a ponytail, leaving out your fringe for a soft touch. Take pieces from the ponytail, twist them, and wrap them around to create a loose, textured bun. Pull some hair from underneath for a relaxed finish.

This style is about having full, attractive, lively hair. Andrea Malczewska, a hairstylist who works for special events, suggests using a product called Ouidad Featherlight Volumizing Foam, which costs $20 on Amazon. She says you should blow-dry your hair to make it look full. Then, using a curling iron with a long barrel, like Bio Ionic’s 1.5-inch Long Barrel Curling Iron, which costs $149 on Amazon, you should curl big sections of your hair. After that, you should use velcro rollers from Goody, which cost $9 on Amazon, to help the curls cool down. When they’re cool, shake your hair out for a style that will last all night.

Ursula Stephen, who is a famous hairstylist and represents the Eco Style brand, really likes the romantic Pamela Anderson hairstyle for Valentine’s Day. This style includes bangs and some wispy strands of hair around the face. You can easily achieve this look by curling all of your hair with a medium-sized curling iron. Stephen suggests you should separate the bangs and pin them away, then brush out the curls and add volume at the top of your head. Brush all your hair back and twist it into a bun, securing it with bobby pins. Style your bangs as you like. Finally, use hairspray to keep everything in place.

Spice up your Valentine’s Day look with a sleek ponytail inspired by Dua Lipa. This style is fun, elegant, and keeps your hair out of your face so you can show off your fancy jewelry for a night out. To achieve this look, Hurtado recommends straightening your hair with a flat iron and using a boar bristle brush, like the diane Boar Wave Brush, to brush your hair up into a high ponytail. Use some gel to make your hair look smooth and sleek. Once your ponytail is secured, take a small section of hair and wrap it around the hair tie to hide it. Spray hairspray all over to keep everything in place. For a cute flip at the end of your ponytail, use the flat iron. Start at the top of the ponytail and straighten down, then when you get to the end, curl it up halfway with the flat iron.

These captivating waves bring a romantic feel with a hint of old-fashioned charm. Malczewska suggests drying your hair with a light styling cream. Next, use a 1-inch curling iron to curl small sections of your hair in the same direction. Once the curls have cooled down, use the Wet Brush Speed Dry ($8, amazon.com) to shape the waves together.

This hairstyle will make your hair look playful and romantic. Start by blow-drying your hair. Then, once each section is dry, use rollers to roll up the hair and secure it in place. Once your hair is completely dry, you can apply a styling cream, such as the SheMoisture($8,amazon.com), and brush your hair vigorously. Then, fluff and shape your hair. “You can also add something extra, like a headband, and clip one side for a bit of glamour,” suggests Stephen.

Hurtado really likes this cool spiky bun for Valentine’s Day because it gives off a trendy and stylish vibe. To do this hairstyle, you’ll need the Trademark Beauty Sunny Styler ($89, amazon.com) to straighten your hair. Then, leave out two pieces of hair from the front section and pull the rest of your hair back into a ponytail. “Use bobby pins to wrap the hair around the ponytail and leave the ends sticking out for that spiky effect,” she suggests. “Once the bun is secured, you can separate out the ends and use hairspray to keep them in place.”

This style focuses on hair accessories because even hair wants to shine on Valentine’s Day. “Get your hair ready the night before by using a styling cream and sleeping with a few braids in your hair,” suggests Malczewska. “This will give you those beautiful waves without using heat. Add as many Goody pins ($6, amazon.com) as you want to finish off the look.”

According to Stephen, this is a cute look for Valentine’s Day. Divide your hair into two sections from ear to ear. Brush and tie the top half with a hair band (such as the Goody Ouchless Elastics, $7, amazon.com) into a ponytail. Then, use a medium-sized curling iron to curl both the back and top sections. Brush out the curls and apply holding spray. To prevent flyaways and achieve a smooth look.

Sabrina’s hairstyle with a full fringe and blown-out hair looks girly and romantic. To achieve this style, use a mousse like Oribe royal blowout ($48, amazon.com) to hold the style—it’s lightweight, which is great. “Blow-dry the bangs with a round brush to make them full, then do the same for the rest of your hair,” advises Hurtado. “Pin each section up and let it cool for 10-15 minutes. After the hair cools down, take out the pins and apply a light oil to the ends for bouncy, shiny hair.”

Olivia Rodrigo’s soft glamorous waves look smooth and perfectly balanced. To create this style, Hurtado recommends using Kerastase l’incroyable styling lotion on damp hair and blow-drying to add volume. Then, use a 1 1/4 inch curling iron to curl the hair in the same direction on both sides, away from the face. Allow the curls to cool, then gently comb them out. For added volume, apply Oribe swept up volumizing powder to the roots—it’ll keep your curls looking great all night.
